Walking on a wire coral.
This wonderful little crab with a long face covered by algae is not very common in Bunaken, this year I have spotted it only a couple of times. This time I’ve tried to take a shot from a different perspective than the classical one. Quite satisfied, I’ll try again.
During a dive in “Critter Circus 3″, in the Manado Coast, I’ve been lucky enough to find a Jawfish (Opistugnathus sp.) showing this unusual aggressive behaviour. Usually shy, I realized that this fish saw his image reflected in my 60mm housing port and probably he thought I was something like a strange invader in his territory.
Hard rain season is arrived. Today “ujan” has started in the morning and didn’t stop yet (10.00 PM)
I think I’ll have to wait a couple of months to have a good light for the wideangle shots, like this one..

SDAA photo shootout has finished yesterday with the winning ceremony and the picture show. Some very good images by the participants, and some exceptional judges as William Tan, Stephen Wong and Takako Uno. Maybe next time I’ll participate
Some good photographer have joined the event and I’m looking forward to see the results. Today we’ve been to Bunaken to shoot wideangle, and also if a jellyfish invasion make things a little difficult on the surface, everything was good.
Tonight a presentation by Stephen Wong and Takako Uno that showed us some fantastic pictures from all around the world. Tomorrow second day, still in Bunaken.
Finally, after many attempts, I have a photo of the pontohi pygmy seahorse. It’s not a good photo as there was a strong current and the subject is less than a centimeter! I’ll try again..
After a couple of weeks dedicated to take confidence with the structure and the new house, we’re start preparing the photographic shootout which will take place at the end of the month.
Many amazing photographers are coming and I hope to have the possibility to observe them and improve my skills

After a quite lucky trip – an unexpected “businness class upgrade” in the Qatar-Jakarta flight, I’m arrived in Indonesia where I will stay for a medium/long period.
I’ll work in the Tasik Ria resort, nice place not very far from Bunaken Park.
As still jet-lagged, I’m trying to make a catalogue of my photos using Adobe LightRoom. It seems a very useful program also if I feel that I’m using only a minor part of the features of this software.
Last week, an early (for the season) “Temporal de mar” (Sea storm, with strong wind and huge waves) has definitely compromised the underwater visibility. At the moment, water is green with no more than 2-3 meters visibility, and at 30 mt depth there is actually no light. Shame, I was hoping to have a couple dives more before to leave…
